End of the war on drugs?

Well, no. But the White House is ending the ad campaign that suggest a connection between drugs and terrorism, citing the ineffectiveness of the ads. The funds will be rechanneled toward a campaign aimed at convincing current drug users to quit. The upshot of all this (to those of us who think the entire “war on drugs” to be horribly misguided) is that the Powers That Be at least appear to be evaluating the effectiveness of their strategies. Perhaps sooner or later they’ll get the bigger picture.

A lot of jokes and Youth Culture cheering have come out of the discovery of National Guardsman Optimus Prime. However, it’s really the amount of personal meaning that Prime invested in a toy that seems absurd. In fact, it’s not really that surprising.

Fan sites might seem a bit silly to some, but toys are not only educational and developmental, they’re serious business and also become deeply ingrained in our personal histories.
